The 2022-23 Stanley Cup Playoffs continue on Tuesday with Game 3 of the Western Conference Finals between the Vegas Golden Knights and Dallas Stars. Vegas is in full control after winning both games at T-Mobile Arena, meaning Dallas must win to avoid reaching the point of no return. In other words, Game 3 of the Golden Knights vs Stars series is must-see action.
The Stars and Golden Knights traded goals back and forth in Game 2, resulting in a 2-2 tie after regulation. The two sides needed overtime for the second consecutive outing, but this extra frame didn’t last long as Chandler Stephenson scored just over a minute into OT to secure a 3-2 victory for Vegas.
Can the Golden Knights continue to apply pressure and achieve a 3-0 series lead? Or will the Stars use a return home as motivation to begin a comeback before it’s too late?
Here’s a look at everything you know heading into Game 3 of the Golden Knights vs Stars series, from the latest betting odds to a prediction with the best betting recommendation, courtesy of Betting News.

Golden Knights vs Stars Game 3 Preview
If the Stars want to minimize the series deficit, they can’t afford another slow start. They only scored three goals in the first and second periods of Games 1 and 2, which isn’t good enough if they want to put away the Golden Knights.
The good news is that the Stars play some of their best hockey on home ice. They’re 5-1 straight up in their last six home playoff games, scoring an average of 4.3 goals in those outings. It helps that the power play cashed in at 30.0% (6-of-20) in that span as well.
Dallas’ recent home success also includes solid defensive play and goaltending. Peter DeBoer’s club has only surrendered 13 goals in its previous six home games while its opponents haven’t scored more than twice in the last three.
If the Stars want to keep up that impressive home play, goaltender Jake Oettinger has to play better. While the oft-reliable netminder only has a .885 save percentage in this series, he’s gone 9-2-0 with a 1.69 goals-against average, .941 SV%, and two shutouts in his last 11 starts at American Airlines Arena.
What’s even more impressive is that one of those games saw Oettinger stop 19-of-20 shots in a 2-1 shootout win over the Golden Knights on April 8.
The Golden Knights haven’t had much luck in their recent travels to Texas, either. They’ve lost four of their last five trips to Dallas while struggling to find the back of the net, scoring two or fewer goals in five of those matchups.
It certainly doesn’t help that the Golden Knights’ PP unit is 0-for-4 in the three most recent of those tilts.
Reversing that trend won’t be easy for Vegas, either. After all, Dallas tends to thrive when the odds are in its favor, going 14-4 in its last 18 games as the favorite.
Another trend worth noting is that the Stars have done well at avoiding lengthy losing streaks. They haven’t lost three games in a row since the end of February, also only losing back-to-back outings twice since then.
It’s also important to point out that even though they’re down 0-2, it’s not like the Stars have been getting destroyed. Games 1 and 2 went to overtime, meaning the series could easily be in Dallas’ favor had a few bounces gone differently.
Golden Knights vs Stars Game 3 Prediction and Picks
Golden Knights vs Stars Prediction: Stars 4, Golden Knights 2
Golden Knights vs Stars: Stars ML (Best Value: -142 at BetOnline) & Chandler Stephenson — Over 0.5 Points (Best Value: -118 at BetOnline)
With how close things have been so far, there’s no reason to assume that the Stars can’t win tonight. They’ve been getting great special teams play and goaltending at home lately, and as long as that continues, the positive results will follow. Dallas knows how to bounce back from adversity and with the grit it’s shown in the past, a third straight loss seems unlikely.
For another promising Golden Knights vs Stars bet, I’m taking the over on Chandler Stephenson’s 0.5-point total. The Vegas forward already has 13 points in as many playoff games, hitting the over on this prop in both of his last two outings. Stephenson is also known to go on streaks, picking up points in consecutive games 30 times throughout the season.
Since his last performances point to his heating up, I’d say it’s a safe bet for Stephenson to tally at least one point tonight.
