Islanders vs Devils NHL Betting Trends
- The Islanders are 3-6 straight up in their last nine road games.
- New Jersey is 1-4 straight up in its last five home games.
- The total hit the Under in four of the Islanders’ last five games on a Monday.
- The total hit the Over in six of New Jersey’s last eight games played in April.
- The Over is 4-2-1 in the last seven Islanders-Devils matchups.
Islanders vs Devils NHL Predictions & Pick (4/15): Will New York Clinch?
Winning tonight is crucial if the Islanders want to keep their postseason hopes alive. The Isles are currently the Metropolitan No. 3 seed with 90 points ahead of tonight’s matchup, however, three divisional rivals — the Capitals, Flyers, and Penguins — are only three or four points behind them.
The Devils have officially been eliminated from playoff contention, but that doesn’t mean this game is meaningless for them. Not only can New Jersey play spoiler tonight, but it also has a chance to complete the regular-season series sweep.
After all, the Devils are a perfect 3-0 SU against the Islanders so far during the 2023-24 campaign. Although the first two encounters were decided by just one goal apiece, New Jersey emerged with a 4-0 victory at UBS Arena on March 24 as Kaapo Kahkonen stopped all 36 shots sent his way.
Devils G Kaapo Kahkonen was terrific against the Islanders just over two weeks ago.
Having said that, there’s a good chance that Kahkonen won’t start tonight. Since he played in the Devils’ last game, chances are Jake Allen will be tonight’s starting netminder.
Unfortunately, Allen hasn’t exactly excelled at producing results lately. The veteran netminder has four sub-.900 save percentages performances in his last five starts, playing to a .878 SV% and 3.68 goals-against average during that stretch.
Another thing that’s working against the Devils is that even though they’re 3-0 SU against the Islanders in 2023-24, they’ve lost eight of the last 11 matchups at Prudential Center between these rivals. It also doesn’t help that New Jersey has lost four of its last five home games overall.
The Islanders also have an advantage if Semyon Varlamov continues his stellar play. Since returning from injury in March, Varlamov has gone 7-1-1 with a 2.21 GAA, .928 SV%, and a shutout in his last nine starts.
The Islanders would love for Semyon Varlamov to remain a brick wall between the pipes.
Even though the Devils won the three previous tilts, I predict an Islanders victory tonight. New York desperately needs to win to help qualify for the postseason and will do everything in its power to avoid a sweep. Given that the visitors’ goaltending has been more reliable lately, it’s clear that the Islanders are in a better spot to win.
As for the best bet, I wouldn’t be surprised if the Over on the 6-goal total hits. The last six Islanders-Devils matchups saw an average of 7.6 goals scored with the Over being hit three times while at least six goals were scored on four occasions. With the Over also being 7-1 in New Jersey’s last eight conference matchups, I won’t be surprised if we see a bit of fireworks this evening.

Best Islanders vs Devils NHL Player Prop (4/15)
As one of the Islanders’ hottest players as of late, I’m taking Kyle Palmieri to record 1+ point (-130) for tonight’s player prop pick.

Palmieri is heating up at the right time, amassing nine points in his last eight games while heading into tonight’s tilt on a five-game point streak. That’s without mentioning how the veteran forward has also recorded at least one point in each of his last four road outings.
If that isn’t convincing enough, Palmieri has made good on this prop in four of his last six meetings with the Devils, tallying nine points along the way.
