Kings vs Oilers Prediction & Pick (2/26): Will Edmonton’s Skid End?
The Kings and Oilers remain neck-and-neck in the standings ahead of tonight’s clash. Although both teams have 68 points, Edmonton sits third in the Pacific Division with one game in hand while Los Angeles occupies the Western Conference’s top wild card position.
Having said that, this game is the third meeting of the 2023-24 season between these rivals. The Oilers first squeaked out a 3-2 shootout victory at crypto.com Arena on Dec. 30 before David Rittich stopped all 26 shots he faced in a 4-0 win for Los Angeles at home just over two weeks ago.
The win was a rare one for the Kings, though, who are now 1-4 SU in their last five games against the Oilers. It won’t be easy to build off that momentum, though. Los Angeles has dropped 14 of its last 20 trips to Edmonton, after all, which includes getting outscored 10-5 on aggregate in the last two matchups at Rogers Place alone.
Special teams struggles often follow the Kings up north. In their last 10 trips to Edmonton, the Kings are 3-for-33 (9.0%) on the power play while only killing 14 of the 24 penalties they took during that stretch (58.3%).
The Kings have struggled to beat the Oilers on the road, going 6-14 SU on their last 20 trips to Edmonton.
Time will tell if the Oilers regroup in time to successfully defend home ice tonight. They’ve struggled to keep the puck out of the net during their three-game losing streak, allowing a total of 16 goals, which includes allowing six goals twice. What’s even worse is that each loss came at home.
Meanwhile, the Kings are on a heater, now sitting at 7-2 SU across their last nine games. Additionally, Los Angeles has won three home games in a row, as well as four of the last five, showing that interim head coach Jim Hiller’s team is more than comfortable playing in the visitor’s role.
If the Kings want to keep their momentum going, Cam Talbot will need to keep up his recently stellar play. Although the veteran netminder’s 4.16 goals-against average and .874 save percentage over his last seven appearances are less than ideal, it’s worth noting that Talbot has stopped 61 of the 63 shots sent his way over back-to-back victories (.968 SV%).
The Oilers, on the other hand, hope that Stuart Skinner can turn things around. The Edmonton native hasn’t recorded an above-.900 SV% in any of his last six starts, backstopping his way to a 4.34 GAA and .858 SV% during that stretch.
Oilers G Stuart Skinner must improve his play if the Oilers are to end their losing streak tonight.
Although they’ve been far from perfect lately, I will side with the Oilers tonight. They haven’t lost four games in a row since the beginning of October and I trust them getting back on track against a Kings team that they’ve dominated at home over the years. Los Angeles is playing great hockey, but all skids must come to an end eventually.
Not only do I project Connor McDavid & Co. to get back on track, but I also like the Over on the 6.5-goal total. Although the first two Kings-Oilers games of the season finish with the Under, Edmonton’s games have seen a ton of offense lately with the Over hitting in six of the last seven outings while its last three outings averaged 8.7 goals.
With the fact that neither goaltender has been all that consistent lately, I won’t be surprised if we see more goals than expected.

Best Kings vs Oilers NHL Player Prop (2/26)
There are some solid Kings vs. Oilers player props to choose from tonight, however, the one I’m taking is the Over on Adrian Kempe’s 3.5-shot total.
Need a goal? @adriankempe's come to the rescue twice tonight. ? pic.twitter.com/Gp5PpdmRAv

Kempe has generated a whopping 31 shots on goal over his last eight games, averaging 3.9 SOG per contest. He finished with the Over four times during that stretch, which includes rattling off at least five SOG in three of his last four outings.
If that isn’t convincing enough, the Over is also 9-2 in his last 11 games against the Oilers, pulling through on this prop in each of the last four clashes. With Edmonton struggling on defense lately, taking Kempe to hit the Over again is a no-brainer.
Best Kings vs Oilers Prop Bet: Adrian Kempe o3.5 SOG (+131)
