See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe Edmonton Oilers are set to host the Seattle Kraken for NHL Western Conference action on Tuesday, Jan. 17 at 9 p.m. ET. Both clubs already have one win over the other this season and with the two sides playing great hockey lately, fans are anticipating who’ll emerge as the victor in the latest Kraken vs Oilers clash.
The Kraken have been building up a ton of momentum lately, winning eight consecutive games before Monday’s 4-1 loss to the Tampa Bay Lightning. Having said that, Seattle has won seven straight games on the road, leaving time to tell if that trend continues after tonight.
Meanwhile, the Oilers have a little streak of their own going, winning each of their last three games. They’ve had a few days off since Saturday’s 4-3 win over the Vegas Golden Knights where Leon Draisaitl found the back of the net twice.
As with most notable matchups, there are plenty of betting opportunities in this Kraken vs Oilers tilt. Here’s a look at BetOnline Sportsbook’s latest odds for the games, as well as a prediction and the best bet to make, courtesy of Betting News.

Kraken vs Oilers Prediction and Picks
Kraken vs Oilers Prediction: Kraken 4, Oilers 3
Kraken vs Oilers: Kraken ML (Best Value: +146 at BetOnline) & Over 6.5 Goals (Best Value: -124 at BetOnline)
Neither of the first two matchups between the Kraken and Oilers was particularly close. The Oilers won in a 7-2 blowout at Climate Pledge Arena back on Dec. 30 before the Kraken picked up a 5-2 victory at Rogers Place just four days later.
Now, the Kraken look to recreate history tonight. The good news for them is that they’ve been unstoppable on the road lately, winning each of their last seven away games. What’s even more impressive is that the Kraken have won most of those games by a large margin, outscoring opponents 37-15.
While some clubs rely on a few players to get the job done, the Kraken’s recent road success has been a team effort. Eleven different Seattle players have recorded at least six points in the last seven road games. Matty Beniers paces his teammates with 11 points over that stretch.
If the Oilers want to stop the Kraken’s momentum, they need to figure out how to stop the puck first. Although Edmonton has won three games in a row, it’s just 1-4-2 in its last seven games at Rogers Place, allowing at least four goals in four of those contests.
Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner has looked shaky in those outings, going 0-3-2 in his last five home starts with a 3.87 goals-against average (GAA) and .875 save percentage (SV%). As it stands, Daily Faceoff projects for him to start for Edmonton tonight.
Meanwhile, Martin Jones is projected to start again for the Kraken. The veteran netminder has rarely lost this season, going 14-1-1 in his last 18 games. Although his 3.02 GAA and .886 SV% over that stretch aren’t exactly impressive, he’s looked much better lately, tallying a 1.86 GAA and .926 SV% in his last seven starts — all resulting in wins.
The Oilers definitely have more star power on their side with the likes of Draisaitl and McDavid, but their struggles at home worry me. The Kraken have looked unbeatable on the road lately and with all four lines scoring, their depth has me leaning in their favor.
In the end, I’m still expecting a back-and-forth game, so I’m sticking with the Kraken at +146 moneyline odds. They already won at Rogers Place exactly two weeks ago and have all the tools to upset the Oilers.
I also recommend the over on the 6.5-goal total. There have only been five Kraken vs Oilers matchups in NHL history and all five have hit the over, finishing with at least seven goals in each contest.
With the over also being hit in four of Edmonton’s last five games and in five of Seattle’s last six against the Western Conference, brace for a high-scoring affair tonight.
