The Colorado Avalanche will host the Tampa Bay Lightning in Game 1 of the Stanley Cup Final. It is the first appearance for Colorado in the Final since 2001. Tampa Bay is making their third straight Finals appearance.
Both offenses were ranked in the Top 10 during the regular season. In the playoffs, both teams have used a Top 10 defense to stifle their opponents and make it to the biggest stage in hockey.
Colorado is the favorite in the series, as well as in Game 1. They have been favored in every game played during the playoffs, and they will continue that stretch against the two-time defending champs.

Players to Watch in Game 1
Nathan MacKinnon has been hot for the Avalanche. He has goals in 4 of his last 6 games to bring his postseason total to 11. He is also helping out the offense by assisting on. 7 goals in the 14 games played in the playoffs.
Another player to keep a close eye on for Colorado is Nazem Kadri. He left early in the Western Conference Final with a thumb injury. Since then he has had surgery and is working his way back. He has 6 goals and 8 assists in 13 games played. It would be another huge weapon for Colorado if he can take the ice.
For Tampa Bay, their hottest player has been their goaltender, Andrei Vasilevskiy. He has only allowed 1 goal in each of his last three starts. Overall he has allowed 1 goal or less 8 times in their 17 postseason games.
On the Tampa offense, watch out for Steven Stamkos. He has scored 4 times in the last 4 games, and is leading the way as Captain of the team. He has 9 total goals in the playoffs and is acting like an enforcer for a defensive-minded team.
Lightning vs Avalanche Prediction and Best Bets
Lightning vs. Avalanche Prediction: Avalanche 3 Lightning 2
Lightning vs. Avalanche Best Bets: Avalanche moneyline (-157 at BetUS) and Under 6 total goals (+105 at Bovada Sportsbook)
The Lightning have not faced an offense as quick as the Avalanche this postseason. Even when they faced a fast Florida team, the Panthers did not play up to their speed. It will take time to adjust to the speed of Colorado.
The Under is the best bet as Tampa’s defense will do everything they can to slow down the Avs. Vasilevskiy has been dominant in net, and it will take multiple chances to beat him. Lucky bounces and screens in front of the net will be critical to break through.
