Game 1 between the New York Rangers and Tampa Bay Lightning saw the two-time defending champions completely outmatched. The Rangers had every answer, including 4 unanswered goals to finish the game.
The big story coming into Game 1 was the amount of rest for each team. Tampa had not played in 9 days after sweeping the Florida Panthers. New York has played two consecutive Game 7s, and they have played every other day since the beginning of the playoffs.
The extra rest may have hurt the Lightning, as they never lead in the game and found themselves in a hole early. They were constantly playing catch up to a Rangers team that has been in a groove since the postseason began.
Heading into the second game, the odds are still very similar, with the Lightning as the favorite. However, this presents even more opportunity for great payouts, as New York put on a show in Game 1.

The Rangers’ Impressive Streak
New York is 8-3 in their last 11 games, and they are finding a scoring touch. They registered 6 goals in back-to-back playoff games for the first time since 1994, the year they won the Cup.
They are 7-1 at home in the playoffs this season, with their only loss coming against the Penguins in the opening game of Round 1. They currently lead a series 1-0 for the first time this postseason.
Rangers’ forward Mika Zibanejad, has been on quite the tear as of late. He has points in his last 6 games. Those points include 5 goals and 5 assists to lead the team in that span.
New York’s goalie, Igor Shesterkin, has won his last 3 games in net with a goals against average sitting at 2.00. He has stopped 105 of 111 shots during his win streak to lead his team to an advantage in the Eastern Conference Final.
The Rangers’ impressive play at home is a great sign for the fans. They have home ice advantage in the series against Tampa, and they have not lost at Madison Square Garden since the beginning of May.
With all of their streaks ongoing, it will be hard to knock the Rangers down. Game 2 will be important to set the tone before the series shifts to Tampa Bay.
Lightning vs. Rangers Game 2 Prediction and Best Bets
Tampa Bay Lightning vs. New York Rangers Prediction: Rangers 4, Lightning 2
Best Bets: Rangers on the moneyline (+108 at BetUS)
The Rangers get to host Game 2. After dismantling Tampa in Game 1, they are riding high at home. They have all of the momentum, and their history of fast starts will play a part in this matchup.
The Rangers are considered the underdog, even though they have the series edge. With great value on the moneyline, expect New York to dominate again, as their young goaltender goes for his 4th straight start allowing 2 goals or fewer.
