We have a small slate on our hands tonight, but let’s get into 1 of them. The Vancouver Canucks will take on the Boston Bruins at TD Garden. These 2 teams haven’t faced off yet this season, so it should be an interesting game.
The Canucks have had a fair start to the season. They’re 10-6-3 this season and are 5th in the Pacific Division. Vancouver is in a tough division with Vegas, Edmonton and Los Angeles all fighting each other for the top spot.
Vancouver comes into this game off a win on Saturday over Ottawa and are 6-4-0 in their last 10 games. Playing on the road has been their strong point this season with a 7-1-0 record.
Captain Quinn Hughes leads this team with 15 assists and 19 points. He has a great team around him in Elias Pettersson, Jake DeBrusk and JT Miller. They have been without right winger Brock Boeser who is a huge part of the offense. He is day-to-day with an upper body injury.
Goaltender Kevin Lankinen is expected in net tonight for the Canucks. He is an impressive 9-3-2 so far with a 2.74 GAA and a .901 save percentage. Vancouver will look for him to keep up his current play.
Boston looks to keep it rolling and make it 3 in a row
Boston has not been the normal self this season. They’re 10-9-3 to start the season and are 5th in the Atlantic Division, which is not the usual for them. The Bruins are normally at the top of the standings.
Their offense has been nowhere to be found. They rank last in the league for goals scored per game and are at the bottom of the league for shots on goal per game. Boston always had a nasty power play that has disappeared as they rank 2nd to last.
On defense, they’re allowing more goals per game than scoring. The Bruins aren’t allowing as many shots on goal per game as you’d think, but they can’t stay out of the box. For penalty minutes per game, Boston ranks 2nd to last, averaging almost 6 penalties per game.
Goalie Jeremy Swayman is expected to get the nod tonight. He signed a big contract at the beginning of the season and hasn’t really shown out. Swayman is 6-7-2 this year with a 3.30 GAA and a .887 save percentage. He’s going to have his work cut out for him tonight.

It seems like we have a battle on our hands. I’m going to go with the road team here though. Vancouver has shown they can play well on the road and Boston has looked a little lost. The line from the sportsbook shows that they think we see a close game.
We very well could see a close game, but I’m going with the Canucks. Lankinen has looked solid in net and this Boston offense is not what it once was. If the Canucks can keep the Bruins under 30 shots, that gives Lankinen that much better of a chance at winning this game.
Vancouver has found the back of the net quite a bit this season, averaging 3.21 goals per game. They rank in the bottom of the league for shots on goal per game but has a good shooting percentage of 11.6%, which is tied for the 7th best in the league.
I like for Jake DeBrusk to record 3 or more shots on goal vs his former team. This will be the 1st time he faces Boston since leaving. I also like for David Pastrnak to record 4 or more shots on goal. He has hit his line in his last 5 games vs the Canucks with the last 2 games recording 6 in each.
