The Western Conference leadings Dallas Stars (46-19-9) will play the Seattle Kraken (30-29-13) tonight at the Climate Pledge Arena. The last game between these 2 ended in a 4-3 overtime win for the Stars.
Dallas has secured their spot in the playoffs already. The sit in the 1st spot in the Central Division and come into this game on a 6-game winning streak.
The Stars are also 8-2-0 in their last 10 games and have a road record of 24-9-5. This team isn’t playing around at this point in the season and are ready to poor on the offense.
They rank 2nd in the league for goals scored per game (3.65) and have the 4th best shooting percentage (11.6%). Averaging 31.5 shots on goal per game isn’t bad either.
On defense, Dallas ranks in the tops of the league. They only allow 2.95 goals and 29 shots on goal per game. One of the things they do best is not committing penalties, as they rank 1st in the league.
Goalie Jake Oettinger is expected in net tonight. He has a record of 29-13-4 this season with a 2.93 GAA and a .917 save percentage. Oetty has been doing more than just holding his own for this team.

Seattle hasn’t been good this year at all. They had a magical season last year that looks like it has ended. Sitting 5th in the Pacific Division and are 14 points out of a Wild Card position.
Though it looks like their season has come to end, they will play until the last horn. Seattle comes into this game on a 2-game winning streak but are 2-6-2 in their last 10 games.
Even if Seattle was to turn it up and win their last 9 games, they would need the 3 teams in front of them to lose practically all their games.
The Kraken are pretty much .500 at home but are terrible on offense. They rank in the bottom of the league for goals scored and shots on goal per game.
Of defense, they play much better. Seattle ranks in the top 10 for goals allowed and shots on goal allowed per game. It unfortunately hasn’t been enough for them.
Goalie Joey Daccord is expected in net tonight. He has a 18-15-11 with a 2.42 GAA and a .917 save percentage. The guy has some great numbers so far this season in the starting role, but getting support on offense has been the problem.

This really shouldn’t be over thought. We have a strong road team who is as hot as the sun right now vs a team who is not making the playoffs which is a large decline from last year.
Dallas is hungry right now and getting hot at the right time is important. They’ll look to continue to play smart, aggressive hockey.
The Puck line really doesn’t scare me in this one. Dallas should come out screaming and wanting to win this game. I expect them to come out to an early lead and take control of this game.
We possibly may see a beat down. The over 5.5 at -130 isn’t a bad look either. The Stars could put up 5 goals on their own.
