We have a dog fight on our hand’s tonight ladies and gentlemen. The Philadelphia Flyers (34-25-8) will be facing the Boston Bruins (39-14-15) at TD Garden. The 2 teams met back in January and Boston won by a score of 6-2.
Boston is having a great year sitting 2nd in the Atlantic Division. They’re coming into this game off a win and has a 5-2-3 record over their last 10 games. This team likes playing at home though, with a 21-8-6 record, so that will pose a threat to the Flyers.
Despite their success, the Bruins have had trouble getting the job done this year. They lead the league with the most over time losses in the league with 15. Things like this can really make a difference come playoff time.
This team has an electric offense led by David Pastrnak. They average only 29.8 shots on goal per game but has a 10.9% shooting percentage. Making the most of your opportunities is key and they do just that.
Goaltending has been a bright spot for the Bruins over the past few years with Linus Ullmark and Jeremy Swayman. Swayman will get the start tonight. He has a 21-7-8 record with a 2.49 GAA and a .920 save percentage.

Philly has already surprised just about everyone. Sitting 3rd in the Metro Division is more than impressive for a team no one even though would contend.
They’re running on an offense that is 3rd in the league for shots on goal with 33.3 per game. This team absolutely fires the puck on net, but aren’t the most accurate. Philly is also worst in the league on the power play and need to turn that around.
On the road, the Flyers are 17-11-5 and are coming in on a loss. They just lost to the Leafs by a score of 6-2 on Thursday. Over their last 10 games, they’re only 4-5-1, so they need to step it up.
Goaltending has been an issue for Philly. Carter Hart was relieved of his duties earlier this year, so the team has relied on Sam Ersson. Tonight, backup goalie Felix Sandstrom will be in net. He has a 1-0-0 record with a 3.22 GAA and a .846 save percentage.

We’ve got 2 high powered teams here. Both are in the playoffs but need to keep it up. In their first matchup, we saw 8 goals and I think we see a repeat of that.
This is a key game for Boston because they are only 1 point out of 1st place in the Atlantic. They should come out hot and try to get an early lead.
Boston has had no problem scoring this year and I don’t see any issues against a goalie who’s only played 3 games. Swayman will cause a problem for the Flyers, but they’ll find the back of the net.
Swayman has been great this season. The Flyers should pepper the ever-loving hell out of him which will lead to some goals. I do think Boston has the upper hand being home and will get the W, but Swayman will need to be on his toes. The Panthers offense is nothing to sneeze at.
I like this game for a lot of offense, so we’re going to take the over on the low total. The sportsbooks are giving value at only -120, so we’re not paying the juice man too bad. Sneaky pick – Swayman over saves 😉
