See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe Edmonton Oilers and Golden Knights are tied 2-2 in their second-round NHL postseason series with Game 5 set to be played on Friday, May 12. After Edmonton evened the series with an impressive effort two nights ago, many wonder if Vegas has what it takes to regain control in the latest Oilers vs Golden Knights clash.
The Oilers erased the Golden Knights’ lead in the series with a 4-1 victory on Wednesday night. Four different Edmonton players scored consecutive goals to open the game as Jay Woodcroft’s team didn’t look back after that. Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner was also rock solid in the win, turning aside 25 of the 26 shots sent his way.
Can the Oilers be the first team to win back-to-back outings in this series to take a 3-2 lead? Or will the Golden Knights stand tall when the dust settles with help from a raucous Sin City crowd?
Here’s a look at everything you know heading into Game 5 of the Oilers vs Golden Knights series, from the latest betting odds to a prediction with the best betting recommendation, courtesy of Betting News.

Oilers vs Golden Knights Game 5 Preview
The Golden Knights return to T-Mobile Arena hoping that their hometown supporters can give them an edge. It’ll take a lot, though, seeing as how they’ll be without one of their best players tonight.
Defenseman Alex Pietrangelo has been suspended for one game due to his slash on the Oilers’ Leon Draisaitl with less than two minutes to go in Game 4. Pietrangelo is an incredibly important part of the Golden Knights’ blue line, averaging 24:37 time on ice while racking up six assists in nine games this postseason.
Nevertheless, containing the Oilers will be difficult without the Golden Knights’ best defenseman. Leon Draisaitl and Connor McDavid are heating up again, both recording seven points apiece in this series. Slowing down Edmonton’s dynamic duo is key to winning, meaning the rest of Vegas’ defensive core must step up tonight.
One reason that the Oilers likely won’t stop scoring anytime soon is their success on the player play. Edmonton is converted on 6-of-18 power-play opportunities over the last four games, equating to a 33.3% success rate.
Meanwhile, the Golden Knights haven’t found nearly as much success. They’re only 2-of-15 (13.3%) on the man advantage against the Oilers, having been held without a PP marker in three of four meetings thus far.
Even though the Golden Knights have the home-ice advantage, they’ve also dropped five of their past six home games against the Oilers. Speaking of which, Edmonton is also 10-2 straight up in its past 12 away games and prove that it can handle T-Mobile Arena in the playoffs with a 5-1 victory in Game 2.
Despite being on the road, the Oilers must find a way to get at Golden Knights goaltender Adin Hill early and often in Game 5. Edmonton put four goals past Hill on 33 shots in Game 4 and with Lauren Brossoit still injured, the Oilers must do what they can to replicate that success tonight.
It’s also interesting to see the Oilers as the road favorites heading into Sin City. After all, they’re 32-17 straight up as the favorite against fellow Western Conference teams this season. At the same time, the Golden Knights are just 11-8 straight up as underdogs in in-conference action.
Oilers vs Golden Knights Game 5 Prediction and Picks
Oilers vs Golden Knights Prediction: Oilers 4, Golden Knights 3
Oilers vs Golden Knights: Oilers ML (Best Value: -128 at BetOnline) & Jack Eichel Shots on Goal — Over 3.5 (Best Value: +100 at BetOnline)
The Oilers shut the Golden Knights down in Game 4 and now have momentum on their side. While the latter is capable of bouncing back, it’s going to be even tougher without Pietrangelo or their true starting goaltender. With all of the success that they’ve had on the road and at T-Mobile Arena, specifically, I see the Oilers capitalizing on their latest win by taking a 3-2 series lead tonight.
Another bet worth making is taking the over on Jack Eichel’s 3.5-shot total. It’s a number that he’s consistently surpassed during the playoffs, hitting the over in five of his last seven outings, averaging 4.3 shots over that stretch. As the Golden Knights need to keep pace with the Oilers’ offense due to Pietrangelo’s absence, I see Eichel stepping up his efforts tonight.
