Oilers vs Lightning Prediction: Ridin’ with Stammer and Kucherov (11/8)

The 7-6 Edmonton Oilers travel to Florida to take on the 7-4-1 Tampa Bay Lightning in a Tuesday night clash.

The Oilers are coming off of a barn-burner with the Capitals last night, losing 5-4 in D.C. They have lost 3 games in a row and are struggling to find some consistency, especially defensively.

Connor McDavid has been fantastic, as expected, with a whopping 13 goals and 14 assists to start the season.

Leon Draisaitl and Evander Kane have been excellent as well, notching 25 and 13 points, respectively.

On the other end, though, they have allowed 4 or more goals in all 4 of their last 4 games.

That is not a recipe for winning, no matter the offensive fire power.

Tonight, the Lightning will look to take advantage of that and continue to right the ship after a rocky start to the season.

The Lightning have won 4 of their last 5, with the lone loss coming in a shootout to the Hurricanes.

Captain Steven Stamkos has been fantastic to start the season, notching 13 points so far.

Nakita Kucherov has also been great, notching 20 points, has a point in 10 straight games, and has scored in 6 straight.

In this battle of two high-powered offenses, is there value on picking a winner?

Prediction

I originally thought I was going to play the over here, but with it being at 7, I just don’t love it as much as 6.5.

I feel a lot more comfortable going with the home team here and taking them in regulation for nice value.

The Lightning have won 5 of their last 6 against the Oilers over the past 3 seasons, and they are playing better hockey right now. Especially at home, with the Oilers on a back to back, I love the Lighting to start fast and put pressure on the Oilers all over the ice.

Steven Stamkos o3.5 SOGs (+100)

As I mentioned earlier, Stamkos has been great to start the season.

He hasn’t hit his SOGs in the past two games but at the plus money value for one of the best shooters in the league, I will take that all day long.

Connor McDavid o3.5 SOGs (-125)

McDavid is always a good bet but this is about recent form, especially against the Lightning.

First off, he has hit his shots in 4 straight games.

Secondly, and what is even better, is that he has hit his shots in the last 6 matchups with the Lightning.

I love both of the Captains to show out tonight.

Let’s finish with a plus money any time goal scorer that I love for the value.

Nikita Kucherov ATG (+134)

As I mentioned earlier, Kucherov has been on fire. He has scored goals in 6 straight games and has a point in 10 straight.

He has also scored a goal in 4 of his last 5 games against the Oilers.

For the great plus money value on a guy who has scored in 6 straight, I am going to take that all day long.
