Panthers vs Senators NHL Predictions & Picks (10/10)
Tonight’s game marks the Senators’ first of the 2024-25 season. The club is hoping to return to the playoffs for the first time since 2017 after finishing seventh in the Atlantic last year with a 37-41-4 record.
Meanwhile, the Panthers opened the new campaign with Tuesday’s 6-4 victory over the Boston Bruins at home. Sam Bennett led the offensive charge with his first two goals of the season while Sam Reinhart and Evan Rodrigues also recorded multi-point efforts.
When it comes to the recent history between these Atlantic Division foes, one team has seen more success than the other. The Panthers are 5-0 SU in their last five matchups against the Senators, which includes going 4-0 SU with a plus-3.5 average goal margin in four meetings last season.
Furthermore, Florida is also 7-1 SU across its last eight trips to the Canadian Tire Centre, emphasizing how Ottawa has become somewhat of a second home for the defending Stanley Cup Champions.
The Panthers completely dominated the Senators throughout the 2023-24 NHL season. Will that trend continue on Thursday?
Nevertheless, the Senators are hoping that their luck will change now that they have Linus Ullmark as the starting netminder. The former 2023 Vezina Trophy winner, who signed a four-year extension on Wednesday, went 88-26-10 with a .924 save percentage, 2.28 goals-against average, and five shutouts across the last three seasons with the Boston Bruins.
It’s also worth noting that Ullmark went 3-0-0 with a .947 SV% and 1.62 GAA in three 2023-24 matchups against Florida.
Meanwhile, the Panthers will need Sergei Bobrovsky to bounce back following the season opener. The two-time NHL All-Star looked pedestrian against the Bruins as he surrendered four goals on only 28 shots, leaving time to tell if a date with the Senators is what he needs to get back on track.
Will Panthers G Sergei Bobrovsky look more like his usual self tonight?
All streaks must eventually end, which is why I’m predicting a Senators victory tonight. The Panthers looked far from perfect on Tuesday and the Senators could take advantage of that, especially if Ullmark continues to have the former’s number. The fact that it’s also Ottawa’s home opener should also motivate the hosts to win.
But regardless of who wins, I like the Under on the 6.5-goal total. Again, Ullmark knows how to prevent the Panthers from scoring while I expect a bounce-back performance from Bobrovsky. Each of last season’s four Panthers-Senators matchups featured fewer than 6.5 goals, too, averaging a combined 4.5 along the way.
In other words, don’t expect a barn burner in Ottawa tonight.

Best Panthers vs Senators Player Prop (10/10)
There are plenty of interesting Panthers vs. Senators player props that stand out, including Sam Bennett o2.5 total shots on goal (-107).
Bennett racked up plenty of shots last season, finishing with 171 in 69 games — an average of 2.5 per outing. He brought that momentum into the 2024-25 season as he finished Tuesday’s outing with two goals on four SOG. There’s a decent chance that trend will continue based on his recent history against Ottawa.
After all, Bennett is averaging 4.0 SOG in his last eight games against the Senators while finishing with the Over six times — including in three of his last four trips to the Canadian Tire Centre.
