The wait is finally over!
The NHL is back and the season kicks off with a clash between the Nashville Predators and the San Jose Sharks at the O2 Arena in Prague.
The game is at 2pm EST which is 8pm CEST in Prague and I have to say, I am excited to watch some day hockey on Friday!

The Global Series is starting the season again for the first time since before the pandemic in 2019.
These 2 back-to-back games between the Sharks and Predators will be the first half of the series, with the other half coming in November, when the Columbus Blue Jackets take on the defending Stanley Cup Champs, Colorado Avalanche, in Tampere, Finland.
With the large amount of NHL talent coming from all over the world, and especially Europe, these games are great for the league, the fans, and I am sure the players.
Both the Sharks and Predators have many European stars on their respective rosters; Roman Josi, Filip Forsberg, Tomáš Hertl, and Timo Meier to name a few.
I am excited to see them shine on the brightest stage to kick off what should be an electric season of hockey.
With it being the first game of a long season, it is hard to predict how this game is going to go. But I have a couple of props and a side that I am looking at taking in this game.
And it all starts with the Norris Trophy runner-up, Roman Josi.
Roman Josi point (-140) CAESERS
I don’t normally lay the juice of -140 but I love this play.
Roman Josi just came off a season where he recorded 96 points, the most by any defensemen since 1993. He is one of the best players in the league and how he goes, Nashville goes.
He is pivotal to their power play and, with how he finished last season and how he has looked in preseason, I don’t see a way that Josi won’t have his hand in one or more of Nashville’s goals.
If you want to play this with more risk but higher reward, Josi to have an ASSIST is +115 on CAESERS. I love this too but I am gonna go for the safer option and just stick with the point.
Ryan Johansen point (+100) FANDUEL
This is my favorite play in this game for the value. Johansen has had an excellent preseason, recording points in both his games played.
The acquisition of Nino Niederreiter from the Carolina Hurricanes will benefit Johansen on the second line and I can see that connection growing more and more for the Predators as the season rolls along.
Johansen is one of the best playmakers on the Predators and getting him at plus money to bag a point is awesome value. Set it and forget it.
Timo Meier o3.5 SOGs (-136) FANDUEL
If you have been following me on Twitter @SweatpantsJesus, you know that my favorite prop market to research and bet on is shots on goal. It is a growing market and, with the fact you can ladder shots on goal on FANDUEL, I can’t wait to dive back into this market.
Buckle up, boys and girls, we’ve got a fun season ahead!
No better way to start us off then one of the most profitable SOG takers in Timo Meier. It doesn’t matter what is happening in the game, if the Sharks are getting destroyed or winning big, Timo never stops shooting.
He hit his SOGs in 3 of the last 4 matchups with the Preds and I would imagine he is going to want to start the year off hot. There is also the added boost that he is Swiss and will want to show out for the European crowd.
I love spots where guys, who are already productive, have added incentive. It’s a nice recipe and one I will always take a stab at. -136 isn’t insane value but, as I mentioned with Josi, its just too good to not take.
That’s it for the props.
My last bet is a Puckline.
Predators -1.5 (+126) FANDUEL
This pick is a little bit biased as I am a Preds fan. But, I can guarantee you that I do not bet the Predators unless I think they will win.
The Preds are heavy favorites in this game at -195 so the Moneyline doesn’t offer any value, but if the Preds are going to win, it should be by 2+.
In their last four matchups with the Sharks, they have won by 2+ three times. I will take those odds every time, especially for plus money.
Go with the favorite here and be happy that the NHL is back!
