The Panthers were able to escape from Carolina with a 2-0 series lead, stealing both games on the road. However, it took overtime in both contests, and four OTs in Game 1. The Panthers found themselves down 1-0 at the 1st Intermission in both games, and were able to battle back, and win the game in overtime.

Now, the Canes are still missing some key players, and to their credit, this could easily be a 2-0 swing in their direction. Carolina finds themselves in a terrible spot, going in to a hostile environment for Game 3.

Florida boasts a 25-16-5 record at home this season including the playoffs, while the Hurricanes were a very solid road team during the regular season. Carolina was 24-11-6 on the road this year, while they are 3-2 in the playoffs on the road. This is clearly a must-win game for the Canes, and I expect them to come out firing against a Panthers team that bleeds shots.

Game 3 Prediction & Best Bets

As a hockey fan, I really hope Carolina turns it around tonight. With the season coming to a close, I’ll root for as many games as possible. However, spirits can’t be very high in the Hurricanes’ locker room, and Florida will be a very tough spot to bounce back.

I think we see a very aggressive, low scoring game, and to be honest, I bet we see overtime again.

Here’s where I’d put my money in tonight’s contest.

Canes/Panthers Under 5.5 (-108) BetOnline

This one is going to be very sweaty, especially considering what’s at stake. Both teams will come out firing, but I think we see some incredible goalie play.

After playing Game 1 and sitting Game 2, Freddy Andersen is back between the posts for Carolina. He had 57 saves in the four overtime bout while allowing just 3 goals.

Sergei Bobrovsky has been unbelievable for the Panthers and I think we see a great night from him despite the onslaught that Carolina will surely bring.

I think we see another 2-2 overtime game, staying under 5.5.

The last two games, Bobrovsky has posted 38 and 65 saves. Yes, 65 saves. Now, take into account that was in Game 1 with an entire extra game being played. However, I still think he will get to this number tonight, regardless of overtime.

He’s hit this number in 7 of his L10 playoff games, and three straight games. But again, his last three games have gone into overtime.

With the Hurricanes’ backs against the wall, they will need to fire the puck to keep their Stanley Cup dreams alive. I think Bobrovsky has a great game at home and hits this number for us.
