Kraken vs Stars Game 5 Preview

These teams split each pair of games to start off the series, therefore we now enter a best of three contest. The Stars get the home ice tonight, but so far they are 1-2 against the Kraken in Dallas this season.

Seattle has definitely surprised me this playoffs, and I’m sure that’s the case with others as well. After beating the defending Stanley Cup Champions in seven games, the Kraken hopped out to a 2-1 lead in this series, with a commanding 7-2 victory in Game 3.

Can they steal another game from Dallas on the road? Or will the Stars get the job done with a chance to clinch back in Seattle?

Game 5 Player Props

Jared McCann over 2.5 SOGs (-130) BetMGM

McCann has hit this line in 7 of his L10 and 15 of his L20. He’s hit this in 3/5 playoff games this year, including his last three.

Now, he is fighting an injury, and he has only played in one game this playoff series. It was last game and he had 3 SOGs on 6 Shot Attempts in just 13 minutes.

Against the Stars this year, he has hit in 3/4 games, including three straight. In those three games, he totals 12 SOGs on 22 Shot Attempts. In the one game he has played at Dallas, he had 4 SOGs on 7 total attempts.

Despite him fighting injury, I think McCann will step up when his team needs it tonight.

Max Domi over 1.5 SOGs (-155) BetMGM

A little juicy here, but his volume is worth it.

In just four games this series, Domi has cleared this line in 2/4 games. He totals 7 SOGs on 21 total Shot Attempts. The volume is there, he just needs to find the net and get around defenders. He has had one SOG in every game this series and a bare minimum of four attempts.

For just 2 SOGs, I’m willing to pay this price and think it could pair nicely.

Jamie Benn over 0.5 Point (-155) BetMGM

Again, quite juicy, but we’re riding a hot hand here.

Benn gets a point in 63% of games this season, overall and at home.

In the playoffs, he’s had a point in 7/10 games, including four straight games, all against the Kraken. He’s hit this number in 4/5 home playoff games this year, including both home games against Seattle.

Against the Kraken specifically, Benn has hit in 6/7 games this season, including six straight. Three of those have been multi-point games, with two of them being three point games for Benn. Check out the chart above courtesy of Outlier.bet.

He plays on the 1st PP Unit, so one point shouldn’t be a problem tonight.

These are both leans at the moment, but here’s the reasoning.

For starters, every single game between these two teams has gone over this number this year. We are seeing some books raise this to 6 with the over priced at even money, but I’ll lay a little juice to avoid the push.

We’ve had three games in this series have a total of 9 goals, with the other having six. I like the offense to continue tonight, and I think Dallas gets it done at home.

The Kraken have taken the Stars to overtime twice in Dallas and won both times 5-4, but I think the Stars looked like a new team in Game 4. I think there’s new energy in the locker room and their fired up to get the win tonight at home.
