New Jersey Devils vs New York Rangers Matchup
Game Seven
Tonight we get the highly anticipated Game 7 matchup between these two squads, who have quite some history this season being neighbors.
Obviously this series is tied 3-3, but the Devils are ahead in the season series 6-4. The Devils won both regular season games in New Jersey, but then dropped the first two games of this series at home.
The Rangers began the series up 2-0, outscoring the Devils 10-2 on the road. Then the Devils turned it around, put Akira Schmid in net and outscored New York 9-2 on their way to three straight wins.
In Game 6, the Rangers handled business in Madison Square Garden, winning 5-2.
Tonight, the teams face up for all the marbles, and chance to face the Carolina Hurricanes in the Conference Semifinals.

Devils vs Rangers Best Bets
I’ve actually got three bets I like in tonight’s Game 7 matchup, all on BetOnline.
- New York Rangers in Regulation (+150)
- Igor Shesterkin over 29.5 Saves (-122)
- Jack Hughes 5+ SOGs in Reg (+110)
Rangers in Regulation (+150) BetOnline
Let’s be honest, the storybook says that Game 7 probably goes into overtime, but I lean with the Rangers to win.
We’ve only seen one OT game this series, and although the ML is a reasonable price, I’d rather get a little juicier with it.
In all three Ranger wins this series, they have looked like the far better and more experienced team. In two of the three losses, they were very competitive and just couldn’t get the puck by Schmid.
With the season on the line, I’m betting with the more experienced team to put the young guys in their place tonight. For +150, I’ll take a stab at them doing so in 60.
Igor Shesterkin over 29.5 Saves (-122) BetOnline
Going along with our game script, I really think Shesterkin steps up tonight on the road.
Straight up, Igor does not hit this number very often, due to the Rangers defense getting in the way of shots and preventing them all together. However in a Game 7 situation, I don’t think the Devils will be shy about ripping the puck on net.
I think this is a highly offensive, but low scoring game due to some fantastic goaltending we’ve seen this season. If the Devils can muster 32 SOGs, I like Igor to get his over.
Jack Hughes 5+ SOGs in Regulation (+110) BetOnline
We’re turning to the young stud when his team needs him most.
Hughes has had at least 5 SOGs in 4 of the 6 playoff games, and 7 of 10 games this season against the Rangers. This includes last game where he had 9 SOGs on 14 attempts.
Against the Rangers, Hughes has never had less than 5 shot attempts, so the volume is clearly there. He averages 9 SA against the Rangers and 5.7 SOGs.
For a little plus money, I like Hughes to show out in Game 7.
