See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe Pittsburgh Penguins host the New York Rangers in Game 6 of their first round series on Friday night. The Rangers stayed alive in Game 5 to force the series back to Pittsburgh.
The Rangers got a big goal from an unlikely source early in the third period. Filip Chytil found twine to put New York ahead 4-3, and they never looked back.
The Rangers also got help from their goaltender, Igor Shesterkin. He was able to stay in the game and stop 29 of 32 shots Wednesday night.
Heading into Game 6, the focus shifts back onto the Penguins and how they can make it to Round 2. They held a 2-0 lead in Game 5 before it was quickly erased in the second period. New York was on the ropes, but Pittsburgh couldn’t quite finish the job.
Pittsburgh has home ice to look forward to in Game 6. The odds favor the Rangers to force a Game 7, but the last time these two teams played in Pittsburgh, New York had no shot at winning anything.

Pittsburgh’s Dominance at Home
In Games 3 and 4 of the series, Pittsburgh outscored New York 14-6 and took both games in front of their home fans. They chased goaltender, Igor Shesterkin, in both starts and forced the Rangers into tough situations.
Every game has hit the over during this series, but in those two games, Pittsburgh accomplished the feat themselves. They scored 7 goals in both of their home games this series and had the Rangers looking for answers.
We head into Game 6 with Pittsburgh still holding a 3-2 lead in the series. They have two more shots at the Rangers, but they will look to put up another dominating home performance to knock New York right out of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
With their ability to put up big numbers at home, I expect another strong performance from the Pittsburgh offense. Shesterkin will have his hands full as Pittsburgh will be crashing the net and looking for rebounds.
My prediction for this game lies in the confidence of the Pittsburgh Penguins. They let Game 5 slip away, but with a return home, they won’t let the same opportunity evade them again.
Rangers vs. Penguins Game 6 Prediction and Best Bets
New York Rangers vs. Pittsburgh Penguins Prediction: Penguins 4, Rangers 3
Best Bets: Penguins on the moneyline (+105 at Bovada Sportsbook) and Over 6.5 total goals scored (+100 at Bovada Sportsbook)
Every game in the series has gone over the total goals line. At +100 still, the value is there to bet with. I expected the number to be. in the negatives due to how the two teams have played. However, I would jump on the opportunity to bet the over while it still holds decent value.
The Penguins are underdogs at home. This provides value in the fact that they are still in the positive even after their triumphant home wins. If you are betting the Penguins, this is the way to go.
