See Picks & Statistics For The GameThe St. Louis Blues and Minnesota Wild play their second game of Round 1 on Wednesday night. The Blues lead the series 1-0 after their win on Monday.
Minnesota was shut out at home, due in large part to a stunning playoff debut by Blues’ goaltender, Ville Husso. He stopped all 37 shots by the Wild in his first career Stanley Cup Playoff appearance.
The Blues flipped the script and defeated one of the best home teams in the National Hockey League. There is still a long way to go in this series, but winning Game 1 on the road has given them a distinct advantage moving forward.
Home ice advantage is now in the Blues favor as they take their series lead into the future of the series. They will play 3 of the next 5 at home, and they have a chance to put a stranglehold on the Wild’s chances.
The odds still show Minnesota as the favorite, but they will have to tighten up their game in order to even the series at 1-1.

Blues to Build Off Momentum
The Blues got exactly what they wanted on Monday night: strong defense, good goaltending, and multiple players with strong offensive performances. One player who stood out was David Perron.
Perron had a hat trick and an assist in the game. He had all the right moves to beat Wild netminder Marc-Andre Fleury.
Torey Krug also had a stellar night. He posted three assists and was a large reason why St. Louis was finding the back of the net. Ryan O’Reilly had a two point game and found twine once for the Blues’ second goal of the game.
It was a three man wrecking crew for the Blues, and Minnesota had no chance to adjust and stop the rush. As for St. Louis, I would predict them to run the same style of offense again on Wednesday. If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it!
Minnesota had very little to cheer about in front of their home fans. One high note was that they outshot the Blues and were getting plenty of chances at the net. Another plus is that they get to stay in St. Paul and host again in Game 2. This time, they are hoping for that goal horn to sound on multiple occasions.
Blues vs. Wild Prediction and Best Bets
Prediction: Blues 4, Wild 2
Best Bets: Blues on the moneyline (+120 at Bovada Sportsbook and +114 at BetOnline Sportsbook) and Under 6.5 total goals (-106 at BetOnline Sportsbook)
For a team coming off a shutout victory, the Blues have great value on the moneyline. They are listed as the underdog, but that doesn’t seem to matter, as they have beaten the Wild as underdogs in 8 of their last 9 meetings.
I don’t expect a wild final score to this game. The goaltending was solid on both sides of the ice Monday, and it seems to be trending in the same direction for Wednesday night. I expect, at most, 6 total goals. This is why I am comfortable betting the under, as long as the line sticks at O/U 6.5 total goals.
