- Mexico (+100)
- United States (+300)

- Jamaica (+1200)
- Costa Rica (+2500)
- Guatemala (+2800)
- Qatar (+3000)
How Should I Bet the Gold Cup Quarterfinals?
This one is tough, especially with two of the three betting favorites playing each other in the quarterfinals.
Personally, I think the United States beat Canada. Therefore I wouldn’t mind a +300 future on the USA, considering there is no way we get that number in a Gold Cup Final, likely against Mexico. However, I will say Canada at +700 might hold the true value.
Although they haven’t looked too good in this tournament, if they can squeeze by the US, that +700 number will disappear right away.
We’ve only seen three different teams win this tournament, and 15/16 have been won by either the United States or Mexico. I don’t see that changing this year, and I think the winner of the USA against Canada will end up facing Mexico in the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup Final.
2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup Betting Guide
The CONCACAF Gold Cup is back for 2023 and it kicks off with the preliminary round this weekend! This article will serve as your complete Betting Guide for the 2023 Gold Cup!
We will talk about all things CONCACAF including:
- What is the CONCACAF Gold Cup?
- Gold Cup History
- 2023 Gold Cup Tournament
Let’s get into it!
CONCACAF Gold Cup
What is CONCACAF?
So what is the CONCACAF Gold Cup? Well let’s start with that first part.
CONCACAF is the body that governs soccer competitions in North America, Central America and the Caribbean. It stands for Confederation of North, Central American and Caribbean Association Football.
In regards to international soccer, CONCACAF represents one of the six governing regions.
Now, onto the Gold Cup.
What is the Gold Cup?
The Gold Cup is CONCACAF’s most prestigious competition for men’s national soccer teams. It is the equivalent of the Copa America tournament in South America and the Euro across the pond in Europe.
The tournament is played every two years and since 2019 has involved 16 teams. For nearly two decades before that, the Gold Cup only hosted 12 teams, and it was even smaller prior to 2000.
The 16 qualifiers are divided into 4 groups of 4 teams and compete in group stage matches. Once a group winner and runner up is decided, the 8 remaining teams face off in a bracket, with an eventual winner being crowd CONCACAF Gold Cup Champion.
Although the Gold Cup typically only hosts teams from their own region, there have been times where invitees have been entered in the tournament.
Gold Cup History
The Gold Cup has been played 16 times in its history, however, there have only been three different champions.
Here is a list of Gold Cup Champions by country:
- Mexico (8)
- United States (7)
- Canada (1)
As you can see, the tournament has been completely dominated by Mexico and the United States. As mentioned, there have been a few invitees who have played in the tournament despite being outside of the region.
In 1996, Brazil participated and ended up losing to Mexico in the final, even though Brazil brought their U-23 national team. After 2007, the Gold Cup no longer allowed invitees until last iteration.
Qatar was invited to compete in the 2021 Gold Cup, where they made it all the way to the semifinals, eventually losing to the United States. The U.S. went on to win the tournament, while Qatar lost to Canada in the consolation match.
2023 Gold Cup Tournament
Preliminary Rounds
The 2023 Gold Cup tournament beings with the preliminary round on June 16th and 17th. The 2nd round of preliminaries is on June 20th. After these two preliminary rounds, we will have the field of 16 teams set!
Group Stage
Once the 16 teams are set, they are divided into 4 groups of 4 to compete in group stage play. Each team plays the other three in their group with points being awarded for wins or draws. After playing each team, then, the group will have a winner and runner-up decided by total points. These two teams advance to the Quarterfinals.
Bracket Play
Eight teams advance to the knockout rounds and face off in bracket style elimination games. These matches are all one leg and are winner-takes-all. Extra time and penalties are permitted to decide a winner if needed.
In standard bracket play, the winners advance, while the losers are sent home.
Eventually we have our CONCACAF Gold Cup Champion.
2023 Gold Cup Betting Odds
Here are the betting odds for the 2023 CONCACAF Gold Cup.
- Mexico +160
- United States +175
- Costa Rica +500
- Panama +1000
- Jamaica +1400
- Canada +1400
- Hondura +2500
- El Salvador +5000
This tournament is definitely in the hands of Mexico and the United States, and I’m sure the champion will be one of the two of them again.
Personally, I would not put any future bets at this price, other than maybe a fun long shot bet on a Mexico/United States exact final.
I’ll definitely look to bet some of these games individually. We’re in for a great tournament.
