Wolves vs. Manchester City Odds & Tips: Visitors will tame Wolves and move closer to the trophy

Manchester City visit Molineux on Wednesday, where they’ll face a Wolves side without a win in its last four league games.
The hosts started the week in the top 10 – placed ninth – but their chances of improving are severely limited, and it appears the squad may have downed tools to focus on their summer break. That’s not a luxury afforded to the visitors as they remain in a fight for the Premier League title with a Liverpool side still breathing down their necks.
Three defeats followed by a draw tells the story of where Wolves are in their season, unlikely to climb any higher in the division and unable to drop too far down the pecking order. If they have abandoned ship and their hearts aren’t in this match, Man City will make them pay a hefty price.

Wolves have nothing left to play for
It has been a decent season for Wolves by their standards, and although they are unlikely to qualify for European competition next season, they have held their own domestically.
The hosts will finish in midtable, securing a top 10 finish that bodes well for the next campaign when they aim to improve and break into the top six.
They started the week in eighth place with stats of 15 wins and five draws against 15 defeats, scoring 35 goals but conceding 34. They are a hard-working team willing to put their bodies on the line for the cause, without any big egos or flashiness in the locker room.
When following soccer at this time of year, we often see many teams with nothing major to play for kickback and enjoy the last remaining few games.
Many coaches choose to give their hard-working and fatigued players a bit of a break, rotating the squad and giving the stars of tomorrow a chance to pick up some game time and show what they can do.
Wolves’ last win over Man City was a 3-2 result at this venue in December 2019, but they have lost the three meetings since.
That appears to be the situation we find Wolves in at the minute, which can be seen from their recent form. The locals have won one, drawn one and lost three of their last five, with each of those defeats coming in their last three matches.
Taking one point from the last nine on the table, Wolves have lost to Burnley and Brighton without managing a goal before ending level with Chelsea at the weekend. Those defeats show the Wolves players have a summer vacation on their minds as they went down to a Burnley side just above the relegation zone and a Brighton side below them in the ladder.
We did see a slightly more competitive side to Wolves when they upset the odds to bag a 2-2 draw at Stamford Bridge against third-placed Chelsea.
Lukaku scored a double that day to move the Blues into a two-goal lead, but Wolves refused to roll over, scoring through Machado Trincao on 79 minutes before Coady struck an equaliser deep into stoppage time.
Champions are now favourites to defend
Last season’s EPL champions have had Liverpool for company at the top of the table for most of this year, with the Reds briefly claiming pole position last month. It was a tense stare-off between the Cityzens and the Reds to see who would blink first, but the champions held their nerve.
The Premier League race remains fiercely competitive, but Liverpool drew with Tottenham at the weekend while Man City hammered Newcastle United 5-0 at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday.
That was exactly the response fans wanted from their club after watching Liverpool stutter, and a successful defence is now firmly back on track.
Sterling bagged a double in that mauling of the Magpies, with the other three goals scored by Laporte, Rodri and Foden. With Man City out of the Champions League and FA Cup, while Liverpool play in the final of both competitions, Pep Guardiola’s men hold all the aces.
Man City have scored an incredible 17 goals in their last four Premier League matches while conceding just one.
As it stands, Man City have 86 points on the board, with Liverpool joining them on that number after a win at Aston Villa on Tuesday. There are just nine points left to play for, meaning if Man City beat Wolves – as they should do – it would take a monumental collapse from the champions to let Liverpool back in.
Head-to-Head Stats & Trends for Wolves vs. Manchester City
The Man City attack has been on fire this spring, scoring five against Newcastle, four at Leeds, and putting five goals past Watford at the Etihad.
Gabriel Jesus has chipped in with five goals in his team’s last three games, with Sterling and Rodri on three each, and that’s worth remembering when placing your first goalscorer bets.
Sterling also made the difference when these teams last met, while Jesus has scored three times in Man City’s last three games against Wolves. We’ll put our faith in that form and take Sterling to continue his scoring ways with the first goal of this game.
Other specials to consider when making your predictions include Man City to win and over 2.5 goals to be scored or the visitors on the handicap -1 goal.
