We have a huge night in store as Glasgow prepares to host a special Europa League semi-final when Rangers welcome German side RB Leipzig to Ibrox.
The famous old stadium in Scotland will be packed to capacity as more than 55,000 supporters hope to cheer their heroes to victory. Rangers were crowned champions of Scotland for the 55th time last season and are now one match away from appearing in a European final.
It’s not often a team from the Scottish Premiership make it to the latter stages of Europe, with Rangers being the last over a decade ago. Beat the Bulls on Thursday, and the Bears will be partying at the final in Seville later this month.
There’s all to play for here as Rangers hold the home advantage, but RB Leipzig boast a 1-0 aggregate lead after nicking a late winner in Germany a week ago.

There’s no quit in the home team
The Glasgow Rangers European story has been an incredible one so far this season, and fans hope there is at least one more chapter to come.
The Scottish champions were knocked out of the Champions League in the qualification round, meaning they dropped into the Europa League qualifying. They successfully made it to the group stages before losing each of their opening two group games.
That stuttering start seemed to light a fire in the squad, and they bounced back and finished second in the pool despite losing manager Steven Gerrard to Aston Villa.
Giovanni van Bronkhorst took over, and the former Champions League and Premier League winner and World Cup runner-up quickly steered the club to safe waters. They are now into the last four of the Europa League and into the final of the Scottish Cup.
Do Rangers have what it takes to win at Ibrox, overturn the one-goal deficit and book a place in the final? It’s certainly possible and having defeated Braga in similar fashion in the previous round.
The natives hold a fighting spirit. They believe they can score on the night and force this match into extra time or get another and wrap things up inside 90 minutes. All fans ask is the players leave it all on the park, giving their all for the cause and a shot at immortality.
Leipzig huffed and puffed to a home win last week
RB Leipzig have become short-priced favourites to win this trophy, and they are playing the outsiders of the betting with a one-goal advantage.
It’s all positive stuff on paper, but soccer matches aren’t won and lost on paper. This is a sport of passion and determination. The Bundesliga side were expected to wrap things up in the first leg with an emphatic win and a few goals scored, but that match didn’t follow the script.
Leipzig were left frustrated in Germany a week ago, winning 1-0 but needing a controversial late goal many believe shouldn’t have counted to get it.
Their lead is a fragile one, and the visitors know it. They will be asked to go to Ibrox, ignore the noise from the home support as best they can and score at least one more goal. If they can get the opening goal in the second leg to make it 2-0 on aggregate, that should be enough to see them through.
Much has been made of the home team this week and the atmosphere we will enjoy in Glasgow, but the Bulls are a great team who showed patience in the first leg and worked hard to break down a stubborn, well-organised side that came to the Red Bull Arena intent on keeping the door closed and taking a 0-0 draw back to Glasgow. They almost achieved it too.
Head-to-Head Stats & Trends for Rangers vs. RB Leipzig
These teams have met only once before, with that 1-0 win for RB the difference. Angelino scored the winning goal on 85 minutes in Leipzig, and he was also named man of the match. Keeping him quiet will be key to any success Rangers enjoy on the night.
RB Leipzig have lost their last two Bundesliga matches, suffering a 2-1 reverse at home to Union Berlin late last month before going down 3-1 at Borussia Monchengladbach on Monday. Rangers were last seen drawing 1-1 in Sunday’s Old Firm derby at Parkhead.
