The UEFA Champions League returns today with nine matches all across Europe. Today concludes the 5th week of league phase play, in which teams are seeded on a table together for a total of 8 matches. Our lone team who has one all four of their matches looks to stay perfect, but will they be able to do so against the defending UCL Champions?? Let’s time to dive into our best bets for the UEFA Champions League today!
Remember, following 8 games of league phase, teams will need to be in the Top 24 of the table to avoid elimination. The Top 8 will receive a bye week, while teams ranked 9th through 16th, will be randomly drawn to face a team ranked 17th-24th in a two leg knockout round matchup. But let’s get into the matter at hand.
Here are today’s matches, so let’s take a look and see if we can find any spots worth betting in the UEFA Champions League today.
- Red Star Belgrade vs VfB Stuttgart
- SK Sturm Graz vs Girona
- AS Monaco vs Benfica
- Aston Villa vs Juventus
- Bologna vs Lille
- Celtic vs Club Brugge
- Dinamo Zagreb vs Borussia Dortmund
- Liverpool vs Real Madrid
- PSV vs Shakhtar Donetsk
I’ve got a couple angles I am looking at, so below are my best bets in the UCL today. For our expert’s soccer picks, go to this page here!

Dinamo Zagreb vs Borussia Dortmund Best Bets
Best Bet: Zagreb/Dortmund 1H Under 1.5 (-155) Bovada
Borussia Dortmund travel to face a stubborn Dinamo Zagreb team who has set themselves up for success. So far, Zagreb is 2-1-1 in the UCL with 7 points and a spot in the next round if things ended today. They host a very good Dortmund team that has not been traveling very well so far this competition season.
Despite Dortmund’s 3-0-1 record in the Champions League and a 6-1-4 start in the Bundesliga, they struggle on the road. Here is how they’ve competed away from their own stadium, starting with the most recent matches.
- 3-1 Loss, Bundesliga
- 1-0 Loss, German Cup
- 2-1 Loss, Bundesliga
- 5-2 Loss, UCL
- 2-1 Loss, Bundesliga
- 5-1 Loss, Bundesliga
- 3-0 Win, UCL
- 0-0 Draw, Bundesliga
- 4-1 Win, German Cup
That is just a horrendous record on the road, and it may not look like it on paper, but this is going to be a tough road matchup. Zagreb won 4-1 their last time out in the UCL, and drew 2-2 against AS Monaco in their line home match in this competition thus far. When Monaco came to town, Zagreb held a strong back line for as long as they could before allowing a couple late goals in the draw. I think they do the same against Dortmund, playing very conservative, and trying to limit Dortmund’s chances.
The German squad’s manager has already came out and said how he does not want his team underestimating this game. They should come prepared and willing to feel out their hosts for the first 45 minutes, trying to find a winner in the 2nd half. The last thing Dortmund wants to do is let their hosts get an early lead. Then Zagreb would park the bus and play kick ball to escape with 3 points. Borussia Dortmund should play very solid defense for the first half, and focus on finding a winner later in the match.
Prediction: 1-1 Draw (+700)
Liverpool vs Real Madrid Best Bets
Best Bet: Liverpool ML/Both Teams to Score Yes (+220) BetOnline
Our only undefeated team remaining in the UCL hosts our defending Champions in an incredible matchup on the pitch. Unfortunately for soccer lovers, the injury list is quite long on both teams. Trent Alexander-Arnold, Alisson Becker, Federico Chiesa, Diego Jota and Kostas Tsimikas will all sit in this matchup for Liverpool. As for Madrid, they will be without Vini, Rodrygo, Tchouaméni and David Alaba, all returning to playing form.
Plenty of huge names will still be on the field, and we are in for quite the game. I’m taking a stab at Liverpool to get the job done at home while also letting in a goal from the aggressive Real Madrid attack.
Madrid has shutout their last two opponents, winning 3-0 and 4-0 following their home loss to AC Milan in the Champions League. Against Liverpool on the road, I see them being aggressive as they are currently on the cusp of being left out of the next round (Currently 21st, Top 24 Advance). As for the home team, their back line is phenomenal.
They are especially dominant at home as well. Since losing to Nottingham Forest at Anfield 1-0, Liverpool has won 7 straight home matches, four of them in shutout fashion. They’ve outscored their visitors 20-3 in those contests, who include Chelsea, Bayer Leverkusen and Aston Villa. I see them winning at home, but not without allowing one of the most dangerous attacks in soccer.
Prediction: Liverpool Wins 2-1 (+800)
