Each time the Las Vegas Aces have lost this season, they have responded resoundingly. Tonight, the reigning WNBA champions will look for another rout as they host the Atlanta Dream to close out today’s schedule (9:00 pm ET, CBS Sports Network).
After being overrun by 38 last Sunday against the New York Liberty, the Aces (26-3, 14-0 home) have quickly gotten back to their dominant ways.
They led by as many as 41 in Tuesday’s 104-84 road win over the Dallas Wings, and they tied a season high with 113 points in Friday’s 24-point home win over the Washington Mystics.
As with this afternoon’s Liberty vs Fever game, a hot team is heavily favored against a struggling team in tonight’s matchup at Michelob Ultra Arena.
A seven-game win streak that spanned the end of June and first few weeks of July positioned Atlanta to make a run at the fourth seed in the WNBA playoffs, but they have now lost seven of their last ten games, including six straight on the road.

Will Tonight Turn into a Nightmare for the Dream?
Almost two weeks ago, the Aces kicked off August by crushing the Dream by 21 points at Michelob Ultra Arena. In the 93-72 win, Jackie Young made four threes and scored 24 points, while A’ja Wilson had 20 points and 11 rebounds.
In their next game, the Aces surprisingly received a taste of their own medicine, with the Liberty outscoring them 50-17 in the second half in their 99-61 win.
Clearly the Aces don’t like losing, given how they have responded each time this season.
On June 8, they lost 94-77 to the Connecticut Sun. The response? A nine-game win streak, with seven of the wins coming by 10+ points.
On July 7, the Wings ended that streak by rallying for an 80-78 win? How did the Aces respond? With an eight-game win streak, with all eight wins coming by 10+ points.
It looks like they are putting together a similar response to last Sunday’s loss to the Liberty.
Will the Dream somehow manage to fare better than the Wings and Mystics? Recent results don’t do much for generating optimism there.
In their seven-game win streak, Atlanta scored 80+ points in every game.
But in their last ten games, the Dream have hit the 80-point mark only twice, in a 95-84 loss to the New York Liberty on July 27 and an 82-73 win over the Indiana Fever last Sunday.
When the Aces have scored 88 or more points in every home game and are averaging 96.8 points per game at home this season, the Dream will be in for a very long night if they remain in their offensive rut.

Atlanta Dream vs Las Vegas Aces Prediction and Picks
Dream vs Aces Picks: Aces -16.5 (-110 at Bovada) & Jackie Young over 17.5 points (-120 at Bovada)
If the Dream play to their potential, they could make things interesting for a while. But they haven’t been playing at that level as of late, and there’s no reason to believe that will change tonight.
In the Aces’ last two wins, Wilson has enhanced her WNBA MVP credentials with monster performances. She had 28 points and 14 rebounds against the Wings, then poured in a career-high 40 points and hauled in a dozen rebounds against the Mystics.
Her props are worth a long look, but Young gets the nod here. She has led the Aces in scoring in both wins against the Dream this season, scoring 21 in a 92-87 road win earlier this season in addition to her recent 24-point performance.
Against the Mystics, Young scored 17 points, but she made only 4 of 11 shots (36.4%) from the field. To date, she has shot below 40% in consecutive games only once this season. Look for her to be on target more tonight and put in another strong showing against the Dream.
