With three straight wins, the Chicago Sky are on their way to establishing a firm grip on a spot in the WNBA playoffs. Tonight, they will have a chance to bump the Minnesota Lynx from seventh place in the standings as the two teams face off at Wintrust Arena (8:00 pm ET, NBA TV).
Thanks to their current run, the Sky (13-15, 5-9 home) are now two and a half games up on the Los Angeles Sparks for the eighth seed.
A win tonight over the Lynx (13-14, 7-6 away) will push them a half-game ahead of Minnesota, and it will enhance their chances of chasing down the fourth or fifth seed. Entering tonight, the Sky are only two and a half games behind the Dallas Wings (15-13) and Atlanta Dream (15-13), who currently occupy the fourth and fifth seeds.
Minnesota, meanwhile, is looking to avoid a three-game losing streak after suffering back-to-back losses to the Connecticut Sun and New York Liberty.

Sky Seek to Sustain Sudden Scoring Surge
For much of the season, the Sky have been one of the WNBA’s least potent teams offensively. But their current three-game win streak is being fueled by an offensive explosion.
In each of their last three games, the Sky have scored exactly 104 points. That number was good for a 19-point home win over the Phoenix Mercury on July 30 and for a surprising road sweep of the Wings, a 15-point win on Friday and an eight-point win on Sunday.
Prior to those games on Friday and Sunday, the Wings had allowed 90 or more points only once in 12 home games this season.
But thanks to the trio of Kahleah Copper, Marina Mabrey, and Courtney Williams, the Sky lit up the scoreboard in Dallas.
After combining for 66 points in the win over the Mercury, they combined for 66 more in Friday’s win and 59 on Sunday. Williams tallied only four points in Sunday’s game, but Mabrey (32) and Copper (23) more than picked up the slack.
Can the Lynx keep up if the sizzling shooting continues for the Sky?
The good news is that Minnesota has a perfect record when scoring 90 or more points this season. Chicago is 6-2 when scoring 90 or more points this season, but they are 2-4 when allowing 90 or more points.
The bad news is that the Lynx have scored 90 or more points only five times all season and managed only 66 points against the New York Liberty on Friday. That was even with Napheesa Collier (21.6 PPG, 7.9 RPG) returning to action after missing three games due to a right ankle sprain.

Minnesota Lynx vs Chicago Sky Prediction and Picks
Lynx vs Sky Picks: Sky -3.5 (-110 at BetUS) & Lynx/Sky over 164.5 (-110 at BetUS)
Minnesota’s recent road wins over the Liberty and Sun show that they can beat just about anyone when things are going well, even without Collier. So, their chances to leave the Windy City with a win shouldn’t be discounted.
But the Sky are in the midst of their best stretch of the season, and Minnesota will not be able to keep up well enough on the offensive end to stop the Sky’s streak.
