Sun vs Lynx Game 5 Predictions & WNBA Picks Today (10/8)
The Lynx failed to advanced to the WNBA Finals on Tuesday as they fell 92-82 to the Lynx in Game 4. Connecticut took the lead toward the end of the third quarter and never looked back as Tyasha Harris led the way with a team-high 20 points while Alyssa Thomas contributed with yet another double-double (18 points, 11 assists).
It’ll be interesting to see if the Sun can build off that momentum considering that they consecutive outings just twice in their last nine games. Conversely, they Lynx haven’t lost back-to-back games since the middle of July and have gone 18-4 SU across 22 games since then, showing just how consistent they’ve been.
If Minnesota is to bounce back this evening, it must find a way to shut Connecticut down across the floor. After all, the Sun shot 53.7% from the field and 53.3% from deep in Game 4 while outscoring the Lynx 49-32 in the second half. That’s without mentioning how the former outscored the latter 50-30 in the paint, too.
Will the Sun’s Alyssa Thomas find more success against the Lynx in Game 5?
The Lynx might have the home-court advantage tonight, but that might not mean that much in the end. The Sun are an impressive 7-1 SU across their last eight trips to Target Center, which includes two victories in three visits in 2024. Furthermore, Connecticut covered the spread in four of its last five away games against Minnesota.
The Lynx are also conceding an average of 83.2 points during the postseason, whereas the Sun are only surrendering 78.2 PPG. If Connecticut’s top players can take advantage of that trend, it could be tough for Minnesota to fight its way back into this game.
With momentum on their side, I’m predicting that the Sun will win tonight while covering the spread. Even if the Lynx manage to squeak out the victory, the Sun have proven that they’re good enough to keep things closer than the 4.5-point spread implies.

Best Sun vs Lynx WNBA Game 5 Prop Bet (10/8)
When it comes to tonight’s best Sun vs. Lynx Game 5 bet, backing Alyssa Thomas to record at least nine assists (-122) is a no-brainer.
Dating back to the regular season, Thomas is averaging 9.8 assists across her last 12 games. The former Maryland product finished eight of those outings with at least nine assists, including when she finished with 11 helpers in Game 4. She’s now made good on this prop in four of her last six meetings with the Lynx this season, averaging 9.7 APG along the way.
With all the defensive struggles the Lynx displayed on Sunday, look for Thomas to successfully lend a helping hand to her teammates.
Best Sun vs. Lynx WNBA Game 5 Prop Bet: Alyssa Thomas 9+ Total Assists (-122)
