Types of NCAA Football Odds
Do you like to bet on college football games? If so, many types of college football game odds are available at most sports betting sites that offer NCAA football betting.
But the three main types of college football game odds are moneyline odds, point spread odds, and total odds, which are also known as over/under odds.
Those three types of odds are the types of NCAA football odds you will find on this page and on our other odds pages.
Moneyline & Point Spread Odds
If you are betting on moneyline and spread betting odds, you are betting on sides.
When it comes to betting on a game, sides directly involve the outcome of the game.
Betting on moneyline odds means that you are betting on a team to win. If the team you pick wins, your bet wins, whether they win by one point, ten points, or 40 points.
Betting on point spread odds means that you are betting on a team to achieve a more specific outcome. If you are betting on the spread favorite, your bet is on that team to win by at least a certain number of points. If you are betting on the spread underdog, your bet is on that team to either win outright or at least not lose by a certain number of points.
For example, say you are betting on the Week 2 matchup between Texas and Michigan.
If the Longhorns are favored by 3.5 points (-3.5), that means that they must win by four or more points to cover the point spread, and that means that the Wolverines (+3.5) must either win outright or lose by three or fewer points to cover the spread.
So, if Texas defeats Michigan 27-24, any moneyline bets on the Longhorns win, but spread bets on the Longhorns lose.
Total (a.k.a. Over/Under) Odds
When you are betting on college football game odds, total betting, which is also known as over/under betting, involves betting on how many combined points will be scored.
That combination can be any sort of combination, as who wins and who loses has no bearing on the outcome of total bets. If you are betting on the over, your bet is on the two teams to combine for more points than the listed total. If you are betting on the under, your bet is on the two teams to combine for fewer points than the listed total.
For example, let’s use odds from BetOnline for the Week 1 matchup between LSU and USC.
The listed total is 63.5, which means that 64 or more points needed to be scored for over bets to hit, and 63 or fewer points needed to be scored for under bets to hit. In this matchup, the two teams combined for 47 total points as the Trojans came from behind to defeat the Tigers 27-20. That means that the under hit by a large margin.
Other Types of College Football Odds
Side and total odds for college football games are what you will find on this page, but there are many other types of NCAA football odds you will find throughout our other content and at sports betting sites.
That includes prop betting odds, futures odds such as Heisman odds and national championship odds, and parlay and teaser odds.

Comparing College Football Odds
On this page, you can compare college football game odds from multiple sportsbooks.
Why is that useful? By comparing odds, you can find the best possible value for a betting line.
For those looking to compare NCAA football odds, this page can be especially helpful. Instead of having to spend valuable time combing through individual sportsbooks, we have the point spread, moneyline, or total odds you’re looking for in one place.
You will often find similarities across different sports betting sites when comparing odds. However, one sportsbook may stick out from the crowd and offer significantly better odds. Those edges may appear to be small, but finding those little edges can prove to be significant, especially in the long term.
Even if your average betting stake is $100 or more, getting -105 odds versus -110 odds may not seem like much on the surface. A $100 bet at -105 odds will net you $4.31 more ($95.24) than a $100 bet at -110 odds ($90.91).
For one bet, that may not move the needle much. But over the course of dozens or hundreds of winning bets, those edges, savings, and additional profits can really boost your bankroll, no matter your average betting stake.
What Factors Can Affect NCAA Football Odds?
There are many factors that can influence college football odds.
Two of the main factors are public betting trends and injury/suspension news.
With public betting trends, if most bets are on one side, sportsbooks will shift odds to draw attention to the other side.
If most bets are on one side of a betting line, that indicates which side the betting public is heavily on. That information is often used by professional bettors, also known as sharps, to bet on the other side.
With injuries and suspensions, notable injury or suspension absences can deplete a team, and returns from injury and suspension can be a big lift. Both of those things can cause major shifts in NCAA football odds, and it is important to be aware of key injury and suspension news when placing bets.
